Download
Version 1.0.0. Free, no account, no telemetry. The game keeps its save locally and never phones home.
Windows
Windows, portable
RecommendedA single .exe. No installer, no admin rights; run it from anywhere.
- Needs the Microsoft WebView2 runtime, which ships with Windows 11 and recent Windows 10.
- Unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn once. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
Windows, installer
Standard setup with a Start Menu entry. Installs WebView2 if it is missing.
- Unsigned, so both SmartScreen and UAC will prompt.
Android
Android
RecommendedThe phone build, for any 64-bit device.
- Sideloaded, so allow installs from your browser when prompted.
Before you install
Windows warns me about an unknown publisher
The builds are not code-signed, so SmartScreen shows a warning the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway. A signing certificate costs more per year than this project has ever earned, which is nothing.
What is WebView2 and do I have it?
The desktop build renders through Microsoft's WebView2 runtime. Windows 11 and recent Windows 10 already ship it. The installer will fetch it if it is missing; the portable .exe cannot, so use the installer if the portable build refuses to open.
Will it run on my phone?
If the phone is 64-bit, which every Android device sold since about 2015 is, yes. There is no 32-bit build: it would be the same 150 MB of 3D assets running on hardware without the memory or the GPU to enjoy them.
Where does my save live?
On Windows, under %APPDATA%\com.desktopchao.garden. It is kept separate from any other build, so installing a new version never touches it. Back that folder up if you care about a chao.
