Chao Garden: Evolved 1.1.2
Continuous bred colour, a metal finish on any colour, new breeding odds, a dev log in Settings, and fixes to pond movement and the Android update notice.
Breeding
- Bred colour is now the exact blend of both parents instead of the nearest of 13 preset colours. ~90 distinct shades from one generation, ~2,800 in total.
- Blended colours keep their saturation across generations. Previously repeated breeding drifted toward grey.
- Colour names cover ~48 shades (Turquoise, Chartreuse, Periwinkle, and so on). A chao within range of a preset colour keeps that preset’s name.
- Bred eggs are tinted with the exact colour of the chao inside.
- Shiny: 4% from two plain parents, 50% from one shiny parent, 100% from two. Previously 4% and 35%, with no gain from a second shiny parent.
- Jewel: 1% from two plain parents, 25% from one or two jewelled parents. The jewel type is inherited, never re-rolled.
- A jewelled parent passes on the jewel’s colour rather than the colour beneath it.
- A jewel obtained by breeding wears the chao’s own bred colour. A jewel bought from the market keeps its standard colour.
- Two plain Normal parents produce Sky Blue, unchanged.
- Mono is not inherited. A mono parent breeds identically to a two-tone parent of the same colour.
Metal
- New ◆ Metal finish: the chao is made of its own colour. Available on any colour, on the egg shelf beside ✦ Shiny and ◐ Mono.
- Metal eggs cost 2× the shiny price of the same colour.
- Metal is inherited on the same odds as shiny: 4% / 50% / 100%.
- Metal and jewels are mutually exclusive.
- Mono is unavailable on metal. A metal chao is already one solid tone.
- Gold, silver and onyx chao are now a reflective metal surface rather than a tinted body with a moving highlight.
- ✦ Shiny on any metal, including gold, silver and onyx, makes it mirror-polished. Shiny on a gem is unchanged.
- Metal chao and eggs are marked ◆ in the roster and the chao panel.
Garden
- Chao no longer snap back and forth when swimming alongside rocks inside the pond. They now swim along them.
- Android gardens hold 6 chao. Other platforms hold 12. Existing chao above the limit are unaffected; nothing new hatches or arrives until a slot frees.
Settings
- New Dev log tab: patch notes for every build, fetched from this site.
- About now lists the version, edition, build, save location, bug report address and asset credits, and can check for updates on demand.
- The settings tab row wraps on narrow screens.
Market
- Egg shelves are sorted cheapest first, following the Shiny and Metal toggles.
- Metal, gold, silver and onyx eggs render as metal in the shop.
Fixed
- The Android “a new version is out” notice. It had never worked in any released build.
- Gold and silver chao rendering with black bodies.
- Metal chao hatching without the metal finish.
- Shiny cancelling metal.
- Metal chao and eggs rendering black at night.
