Chao Garden: Evolved 1.1.0
Trading, gifting, Board and Race all play online and over LAN. A Windows installer that updates itself, and two scoring corrections.
Second public build. Windows and Android.
Trading, gifting and versus play
- Trading and gifting work online, using a room code, and over LAN between devices on the same Wi-Fi.
- A gift is one-way and needs nothing in return. It stays claimable until someone takes it, and can be withdrawn at any point until then.
- A trade holds your chao until both sides finish. An unfinished trade returns it.
- Board and Race run online, using a room code, and over LAN between devices on the same Wi-Fi.
- No part of a chao’s record travels over a versus connection. Records come from your own ride.
Updates
- The Windows installer checks for a new version on launch, reports one when it exists, and installs it on confirmation. It is now the recommended download.
- An update is a full download of about 170 MB. The prompt states the size before it starts.
- The portable build does not update itself. It remains available.
- The Android build reports a new version and links the download page. It does not install it.
Scoring
- Trick points are half what they were. A four-move chain off one ramp was scoring more than eight seconds of riding well, on courses where a par time and a good racing line are about six seconds apart. Grades were re-checked against the same runs and land where they did before.
- A chao’s second-evolution shape and colour no longer follow training that decays. They were tracking recent training rather than permanent training, so a chao arrived at adulthood wearing a full second-evolution look and faded back to normal over the following hour.
- Existing adults may appear less developed than they did, by the same amount they were over-stated.
- A grown chao no longer visibly swells after a meal and shrinks back over the following minutes.
This did not cover every case. A chao could still leave its cocoon part-grown, from a separate cause: the wait for a calm moment to evolve was counted as time already spent as an adult. That is fixed in 1.1.1.
Also in this build
- The board’s mode buttons could light two at once, after which the course list stopped responding to taps.
- In Chao Clash, a versus match could show the opponent’s name beside your own chao’s face on the jumbotron.
- Restart is no longer offered from the pause menu during a versus match.
